Parents put their children in a Day Care, trusting that they will be safe and comfortable there. Therefore, administrators should give special attention to the Day Care classroom and its furniture before the school year starts. This would be a child’s first experience when it comes to formal education and of course you would like to be enjoyable, memorable and most important, safe. All these can depend on your classroom’s layout because having the wrong one could turn a day into a total nightmare and will make a negative impact on children. This can, affect them for a long time.
One thing that administrators should always bear in mind is that children never stay still. They are always on the move and everything is simply in chaos. It can be a real challenge to make a plan but one that is necessary. You wouldn’t like a child to hate going to school when he grows older because he didn’t like his Day Care when he was young.
Designers sometimes forget that the classrooms are used by kids and they should be reminded of this fact. It is not for adults so everything from furniture to amenities must be the size of the children using the classroom. It will be uncomfortable to them if it isn’t. Prevention is always the best cure so choose pieces of furniture that are also safe. Tables and chairs shouldn’t be to high so that going up and down is easy.
Don’t consider buying furniture with sharp edges. This will only lead to injury if you do. Make sure that you use non-slip materials on your floor so that the kids will be protected.
